Whether you’re helping with The Green Thread Project, community outreach, or special events, your contribution is deeply valued.
This orientation outlines expectations, guidelines, and policies that apply to all volunteer events, regardless of location.
Code of Conduct
As a volunteer, you represent the heart and mission of Healing Seed VA and Whole Greens VA. We ask that all volunteers:
- Treat all guests, fellow volunteers, and staff with respect, kindness, and empathy.
- Refrain from using offensive language, engaging in discrimination, or displaying aggressive behavior.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
- Follow instructions from event leaders and coordinators.
- Respect event spaces, property, and local communities.
- Never represent yourself as a spokesperson or official representative of the organization without prior approval.
- Dress appropriately for the event and duties assigned.
Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
During your volunteer service, you may encounter private or sensitive information regarding individuals, clients, or the organization. We expect all volunteers to:
- Keep all personal information shared by community members confidential.
- Not disclose, share, or discuss any sensitive matters outside the event.
- Respect the dignity and privacy of those we serve.
Any breach of confidentiality may result in immediate dismissal from the volunteer program.
Liability Waiver
By volunteering, you acknowledge and accept the following:
- You are participating in events and activities at your own risk.
- Healing Seed VA and Whole Greens VA are not liable for any injuries, illnesses, losses, or damages incurred while volunteering.
- You agree to waive any claims against Healing Seed VA, Whole Greens VA, their partners, staff, and event hosts.
- You understand that some volunteer duties may involve physical activity or contact with individuals experiencing health, housing, or personal challenges.
Transportation Policy
- All volunteers are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from all volunteer events unless otherwise arranged.
- We encourage carpooling among approved volunteers when possible.
Volunteer Status & Orientation Policy
- All positions are strictly volunteer-based. No monetary compensation or benefits will be provided.
- Upon application, you will be contacted to schedule a mandatory orientation.
- Group orientations are held once a month.
- Individual virtual sessions may be scheduled by request.
- You may not attend or serve at any events until orientation has been completed.
- We reserve the right to deny any volunteer application and to conduct background checks on all applicants.
