⚠️There are MAJOR federal changes being pushed right now that could reshape — and potentially wipe out — the hemp industry as we know it. As part of the government reopening bill, Congress has included language that would federally redefine hemp and restrict products to under 0.4 mg TOTAL THC per container.
To be clear:This would ban nearly every hemp-derived wellness product in the country, including the ones people use every day for pain, anxiety, sleep, PTSD, neuropathy, children’s needs, veteran wellness, and more.And it goes even deeper
⬇️FULL-SPECTRUM CBD PRODUCTS WOULD DISAPPEAR — EVEN FOR PETSUnder this new definition, full-spectrum CBD — which naturally contains trace amounts of THC — would become illegal, even though the THC levels are non-intoxicating.That means:
❌ No more full-spectrum CBD for humans
❌ No more full-spectrum CBD for pets
❌ No more full-spectrum tinctures, capsules, balms, creams, or oils
❌ No more complete “entourage effect” products that many rely on medicallyPet owners who depend on CBD for anxiety, mobility issues, seizures, aging support, and behavioral health would lose access, too.
This is NOT just a “hemp shop problem.”This is a wellness, medical access, and quality-of-life problem.THIS WILL ALSO IMPACT SEED SALES. A federal redefinition of hemp could restrict:
What seeds can legally be sold
What genetics are allowedHow seeds are transported across state lines
What farmers can cultivate moving forward Virginia’s ability to build a stable future hemp market
This threatens the entire supply chain — starting at the seed.
AND IT THREATENS CREDIT CARD PROCESSING FOR SMALL BUSINESSES
If hemp-derived cannabinoids become restricted, payment processors may:
Freeze or shut down merchant accountsBan hemp companies from using cards altogether
Force businesses back to cash-only
Increase banking feesHalt thousands of small businesses overnightFor family-owned wellness shops, manufacturers, and nonprofits, this is devastating.
