What’s Going On with Hemp & the Government?

Big changes are unfolding in Washington that could impact the hemp industry, your access to products, and how things operate right here in Virginia.

🔍 Here’s what’s happening:

As part of the effort to re-open the federal government, lawmakers have tucked a new hemp restriction into the spending bill. This proposed change would redefine “hemp” under federal law, limiting any product to less than 0.4 mg THC per container and banning most intoxicating hemp-derived cannabinoids (like Delta-8, Delta-9, and others). The new language would make many current hemp products — from edibles and drinks to vapes and tinctures — illegal overnight, devastating small businesses, farmers, and consumers alike. Many in the industry are calling this a “backdoor ban” that reverses years of progress made under the 2018 Farm Bill.

📣 Why it matters:This isn’t just about business — it’s about education, access, and choice. At Healing Seed VA and Whole Greens VA, we believe in responsible use, safe access, and honest education. These restrictions would silence small, community-based operators and harm the very people who rely on hemp for wellness, pain, and balance.

🧠 What we can do — TOGETHER:Change doesn’t happen by staying silent.

Here’s how you can take action today:

✅ Contact your local and state officials.Tell them you oppose federal or state efforts to ban hemp-derived products and that you support reasonable regulation, not prohibition.Call or email your Senators and Representatives — share how hemp has helped you or your loved ones.Reach out to Governor Glenn Youngkin’s office and the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS Hemp Program) to voice your concerns.Be respectful, be factual, and speak from the heart — your story matters.

📞 You can find your representatives here: https://www.congress.gov/members or https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/💬 Together we can:

Keep the conversation going.

Support fair legislation that protects farmers, consumers, and small businesses.

Ensure hemp remains part of responsible wellness and education — not fear and misinformation.

🌱 We’re not backing down — we’re standing up. Let’s make sure our voices are heard loud and clear in Richmond and in D.C.
